- 3 1/2 lbs. potatoes
- 1 stick butter
- 3/4 cup milk
- Add potatoes to a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook until fork tender, 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and drain.
- Add butter to pot and mash until smooth and fluffy, gradually adding milk. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
