A Message to Our Customers

For more than 80 years, you and your families have counted on Schnucks. As the uncertainty of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to be seen across the world and across the five states that Schnucks calls home, we want you to know that our team is working hard to support our customers, our teammates, and our communities.

Stocking our shelves: Like other retailers, we are experiencing an increase in demand for items like cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper among others. We are working closely with our suppliers and coordinating with our warehouse teams to ensure that as soon as these items arrive in our warehouse, they are shipped out to our stores. We know that you have become accustomed to the fact that when you need an item, you can find it at your Schnucks. During this time of unprecedented demand, we thank you for your understanding as we work to get products on the shelf as quickly as possible.

Cleaning our stores: We are cleaning and sanitizing touchpoints throughout the store. We always actively sanitize door handles, water fountains, restrooms, and other high-touchpoint areas, and given the circumstances, we are intensifying those cleaning processes. We have offered cart wipes for many years and urge customers to use these wipes to cleanse cart handles prior to shopping.

Suspending food sampling: We understand that sampling and demonstrations are a desired feature for our customers, but out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily stopped all in-store food demonstrations and sampling.

Focusing on teammate health and safety: We are sharing the latest information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with our teammates and ensuring that they are aware of the frequent need to wash their hands, avoid touching their face, and use hand sanitizer. We are also continuing to emphasize to our teammates that anyone who is ill should not report to work and we have reinforced our teammate reportable illness policy, which ensures that appropriate steps are taken to preclude transmission of foodborne illnesses or communicable diseases. Schnucks is proud to be a past recipient of the Black Pearl Award, recognizing outstanding achievement in corporate excellence in food safety and quality. One award is given annually by the International Association for Food Protection, a nonprofit comprised of more than 4,500 food safety officials from 50 countries.

Serving our customers: All of our teammates in every area of our company remain committed to putting our customers first. We are taking great measures to ensure your experience in our checklane is as efficient as possible. We are also deploying additional teammates to serve our customers by bagging groceries and stocking shelves. During these times, many customers may choose to have their groceries delivered or want to pick them up. Schnucks Delivers and Curbside Pickup are available options. Instacart, our delivery partner, recently updated their health and safety guidelines to ensure they’re taking the appropriate precautions to safely deliver your items. In addition, Instacart has introduced “Leave at My Door Delivery”, a feature that gives customers more flexibility in receiving their groceries.

The health and safety of our customers and teammates is our priority now and always, and even when there is uncertainty surrounding us, you can remain certain of this – we will never lose focus on our mission to Nourish People’s Lives.
