A Message of Thanks to Our Customers

The calendar says that we’re well into summer, but social distancing has put limits on many of our favorite seasonal activities. Although our summer traditions look quite different this year, we are all finding ways to make new memories that will last a lifetime. Backyard barbecues, family dinners, and cool-down desserts are bringing families around the table, bonding our spirits together with hope for the future. We’ve been through a lot of changes together, and I thank you for putting the safety of other customers and our teammates first by following all of the safety recommendations we have established during the coronavirus pandemic.

Face coverings: From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we moved quickly to respond to the ever-changing environment and prioritize safety and cleanliness in our stores. We require all teammates and vendors to wear facemasks, and as of July 20, we require all customers to wear a face covering while shopping, with the exception of young children and those with medical conditions who are unable to wear a face covering. We understand that there are a variety of opinions about masks, however the CDC and other health experts are aligned on the benefits of facial coverings in reducing the spread of COVID-19.

Social distancing: We are encouraging everyone to practice social distancing – you may have heard the overhead announcements that are playing in our stores every 15 minutes, about abiding by the 6-foot rule (that’s about two shopping carts) or noticed the floor decals throughout the stores. We’ve also revised the check-out processes to support social distancing guidelines and when it’s possible, we are asking you to limit to one shopper per household which results in fewer people in our stores.

Health and wellness: We are focused on nourishing people’s lives, and the health of our customers and teammates is important to us. We’ve completed the conversion of our in-store pharmacies to CVS Pharmacy, and you’ll notice many of the same teammates who served you before are now serving you as CVS employees. If you are ill, and especially if have a fever, please consider using Schnucks Delivers for delivery and curbside options. As of July 20, we are reserving the first hour of every Monday and Thursday – from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. – for shopping in our stores by seniors and for those who are most at risk of COVID-19. (Our EatWell location in Columbia, Missouri, hosts their shopping hour on Wednesdays.) I hope you will join me in assisting us in supporting those in our communities who are most vulnerable.

There are so many things we are doing differently, and I want you to know that Schnucks is working around the clock to provide you with a clean, safe shopping experience. While there have been countless changes at Schnucks, and in our world as a whole, together we can grow from these experiences, control how we face future challenges, and build a better tomorrow for all.
