The baby years are a unique and special time for you to bond with your child. One way to connect with your baby is by making your own baby food purées.
Purées are great for babies because they are easy to swallow, many can be frozen to use later, and they can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. As you begin introducing your baby to solids, it is important to do so slowly and with intention. This will help you see what foods baby responds to most, and what foods they may have trouble digesting.
Making your own baby food purées is easy. We are sharing three easy-to-make baby food purées made from fresh fruit and vegetables found in your Schnucks Produce department.
Directions: Cut fruit or steamed vegetables into small pieces and purée in a food processor or blender. Add breastmilk for a smoother consistency. If freezing for later use, pour purée into ice cube trays. Date label to keep track of expiration. Frozen purées expire after 3 months.
